Well quantinisation isn't exactly math-intensive, and the arithmetic 
encoding stage shouldn't be too hard either. (It's fiddly to code 
correctly, but it's all simple integer arithmetic.) I'm not sure what 
else is *in* the MPEG encoder transform...
