AMD claim to have learned their lesson there. Certainly the new AM2+ 
chips all work in socket AM2 motherboards (although obviously not as 
well as they could do).

But then, I heard people saying things like "this could be the end for 
AMD" (referring to the way Phenom pales in comparison to Core 2).
