This is something that has always confused me...

The boys all want to get at the girls. Nothing complicated there.

Girls are far more confusing. Your typical girl seems to definitely
*want* a boyfriend, and is very keen to show off just how sexy and
desirable she is. But as soon as a *real* boy attempts to make any kind
of advance towards her, she seems deeply offended at the very
*suggestion* that she might want to actually date such a pathetic excuse
for a boy. Obviously she's looking for somebody far better then HIM!

Even if you start seeing her regularly and she seems to enjoy being with
you, she still seems insulted and outraged that you might want to kiss
her. And she is utterly repulsed by the concept that you might be
thinking about having sex with her (much less try to actually *do* this
for real). Apparently she just wants to hang out together and maybe hold
hands or something.

So I'm confused - how has the human race not died out yet?

I distinctly remember that when I was about 12 or so, I became utterly
fascinated with girls. I seemed to spend almost every waking hour
thinking about them, feeling curios about them, wanting to have one of
my own, wondering what they're like, etc. I'm reasonably certain I'm not
alone in this. (!)

Presumably what's meant to happen next is that you start interactive
with girls, find out a bit about them, start dating them, and gradually
stop being quite so fascinated by them. (Personally, this still hasn't
happened for me yet - presumably because I never interact with
*anybody*, much less girls...)

I have never actually met a teenage girl in my entire life. [Ever.] So
I'm curios... Do teenage girls suddenly become absolutely fascinated
with boys in a similar way? Or are they *always* completely disgusted by
the idea of interacting with them? Is it just an act? Or do girls
genuinely hate boys?

Since the human race hasn't died out yet, you'd think it *must* be an
act. But I don't know... that's some damned good acting... :-/
