In the US, it's the day after Thanksgiving - biggest shopping day of the 
holiday season (if not the year).

I've wondered that myself.  Not enough to go look, though, as I don't 
spend a lot of time playing games.  I find that many modern games just 
lack the gameplay I'm used to.
