I've always liked the concept of these 6 awards. But, of course,
if the correlation is as high as demonstrated in the graphs, it
will in most cases be just another name for places 4 to 6.

How about something along the lines of the old prebuilt comment
checkboxes (most notable for ...)? Give only one vote for each
image, but provide optional checkboxes

[ ] Wow, outstanding technical merit
[ ] Wow, outstanding artistic merit
[ ] Wow, outstanding concept / interpretation of topic

Use a simple "wow count" to award the honourable mentions
among non-placed entries (regular vote as tie-breaker).
