Seriously, I went out with a girl once whose parents were *really* like
that. They didn't approve of us living in the same house, and never came to
visit. We were at her parents house once (where we had to sleep in separate
rooms) and her mum gave us this book which was all about the evils of living
together before marriage (it was very religious). Actually they were just
really "proper" full stop, I once got a lecture from her mum about how I
drove her car 10 metres to park it when I wasn't insured to drive it (even
though my car insurance at the time covered me to drive other cars 3rd
party).
Fortunately the in-laws now are much more relaxed and I get on much better
with them - or actually maybe it's just because I speak a different language
to them ;-)
