> I always wondered why is it called Chrismas if it has nothing to do with
> Chtist (not even Chris) but rather celebrates the winter solstice.
In the early days of the Cristianity, during those times when they where
persecuted, the various celebrations where adjusted to the dates of
pre-christian celebrations that had somewhat similar symbolism.
The Christ is a "bringer of light" and the winter soltice selebrations where
about the "return of the light".
Easter is about the Christ "return to life", and the coinsiding celebrations
where about the "return of life".
