It's a known fact that if you post a short code WIP here you *will*
get suggestions on how to make it smaller. You don't have to ask for it
explicitly. Posting the code is enough.
This has always been an issue. It was an issue with SCC4. Someone
posted several WIPs and (without explicitly asking for it) always got
suggestions on how to make it smaller. It basically became a group
effort, not the effort of an individual.
My question is: Is this fair towards those who make their submissions
all by themselves, without external help? Sure they could post their
WIPs too, but perhaps they want to win on their own merits, not as a
shared effort. Is it then fair that some other people, who might not be
all that acquainted with creating short SDL, get third-party help to
make their submission better?

Yes, everything I write must be something negative. Everything I write
must be interpreted in the worst possible way. No positive
interpretation is feasible. It's impossible for me to ask honest,
innocent questions, but there's always a negative attitude of hostility.
Good thing you are not prejudiced in any way.
