I'd heard of Priapism probably in my late teens, but from what little I'd 
read of cases, it seemed uncommon and also had more permanence, often due to 
physical injury (eg. to the vascular system controlling erection), rather 
than just the temporary (if sometimes unbidden) boners that happened from 
the teenage hormonal flush.
