It wouldn't surprise me if Windows Notepad would decide to screw up XML 
in some way.

That, and its surprisingly easy to copy all but one line or all but one 
character of the text you meant to grab.

Just saving the file directly simply eliminates a few possible ways for 
things to go wrong.
