  In general (and in all text editors), any movement of the cursor in
conjunction with shift will select text.

  So for example you press 'end' to go to the end of the line: If you
press shift at the same time, it will also select from the cursor's
current position to the end of the line.
  If you press ctrl+end it will go to the end of the file. Likewise,
if you press shift at the same time, it will select.
  Likewise with all other cursor movements, such as ctrl+right (will
go one word to the right), page down, etc.
