I wasn't sure how to handle the black ring. Some eyes have a very dark
band around the perimeter of the iris, and some don't. I wanted this
macro to be versatile enough to make different "types" of eyes. I'll
just have to work on the texture some more. I was hoping to stay away
from defining custom iris textures for each eye color, but it's looking
like I'll have to do that.
Concerning the whitish area in the photo I've gone as far as trying
to use a media filled iris (a torus) with the pigments being modeled
similar to flames. Didn't work very well.

Attached is a very old scene I did using an earlier version of the eye
macro.
