I'm really not the one to try and help, except I think you have a good start
on trees/plants there and you will probably need to move from something
other than basic primitives and pigments if you actually want realism.
Although, a lot of faked realism can still be accomplished if you apply the
textures right, like using image_map or a very convincing color_map.
Since there has been other tree or plant generating things done before, you
might want to take a look at those. Here's a few:
