Here in the States we consider them weeds, too :)
In fact, the futility is what I'm trying to capture (not the gardener's,
but the dandelion). It's something that most people consider a weed,
ugly, and serves no purpose. As you said, people do everything possible
to eradicate it. You take this something, and lock it in a jar (maybe I
should remove the air-holes?), and have it reaching toward the sun...
Something about that struggle really speaks to me.
