Yes, this "heap-like" turban currently looks more like those worn in
Rajasthan, India... Afghan-style turbans are wound more tightly,
horizontally around the head, but exposing much of the forehead!

Also, especially in the southern provinces, one often sees two-colored
turban cloths (normally about 1 by 6 meters, but usually folded to 0,5
by 6) with groups of narrow vertical stripes in regular intervals, such
as butterscotch on brown, or grey on black.
