Hi Christoph

What you write is true without any doubt. You may see from the whole package
that it was not made for
beeing wide spread from first moment, but rather fpr private use.
Then I decided to give it to others, too.

What could be done ...
Following what ABX said in his post I think its not even necessary for a
first step to rewrite the whole thing in another language (I don't know).

It would be possible that someone who knows
- a bit about unix and how to start POV-Ray on UNIX/LINUX
to make a RenderAgent "for Unix/Linux. Its not much, a bit simplified its
just that the renderagent waits on a "JOB"-File, starts POV-Ray with these
informations, and after POV_Ray is ready, renames that file to ".rdy"
("ready"). The rest is done from SMPOV.

The SMPOV-interprocess-communication is based on a very
simple -cleartext-file-based- protocoll, it should work between any
platforms so long SMPOV iself (as a first step) would be running on a
windows 32 bit OS.

If someone is intrested, I would sent all necessary informations on what
files to react etc. for a RenderAgent, as well as the source code of the
original programm to that person. If you are ABX want to make a try, or at
least take a look on things, I would do that.

regards,
