If you meant by 'surf' the interaction of water and land, the only things I
can think of are a change in the shape of the waves (higher and narrower?)
and a change of texture to a white, non-reflective texture near the
coastline as the water gets shallower. It's pretty difficult to model this
accurately though I think.
