You are asking the wrong person :-{ My textures are not very good, I don't spend
enough time on them. A bit of a cheek criticizing and not offering help but I am
sure someone will come to your aid. That's if anyone agrees with me.

Well I can describe how I did it. See post in povray.binaries.images and the
file in povray.binaries.scene-files.
I did not use a sweep. I constructed a hexagonal prism from boxes (I had
problems making a regular hex sweep) then using CSG, subtracted a cone to give
the chamfer. I made the nut in three parts, Top, middle and bottom. On a bolt I
just use the top and middle but for the nut the bottom surface needs to be
chamfered too.
BTW I use Moray to model and it uses a different coordinate system, the Z axis
is up/down instead of the Y axis. The camera has CAMERA_VECTOR's to compensate.
Also some of the vector values have lots of digits after the decimal point.
