Hey Richard!

Just to make sure: Did you use Anti-Aliasing? If not, do the following:

If you are using the Windows version:
There is a list where you can chose the resolution of the final image (just
below the buttons for "New" and "Open"). Chose an entry which says "AA 0.3"
instead of "No AA".

If you are using the *nix/linux/whatever command-line version, just add
"+A0.3" to the parameters you pass to POV-Ray.
