I think it's called the boiler (... but I could be wrong. I know more about
aircraft than historic steam locomotives; which begs the question: "Why
didn't I model an historic flying machine instead?"
Now, if only I could find a way of getting the shadowing to follow the
normal profile..... ;-) (anyone mentioning isosurfaces will be taken
outside and shot!)

I had thought of adding a slightly rusty texture and playing with the
normals so I'll run with your ideas for the next couple of days
