Yes, I saw that two and the stupid flamewar someone cause in the "forums"
(am I the only one who has the impression those forums only contain
flamewars?)
The thing with the "ISO-surface" is a really obvious mistake. Maybe an
email to the author would help. In the past they corrected mistakes quickly
(like once when the newsticker moved the Motorola headquarter to Texas but
it really is in Illinois).
As for the actual content, I think this is because few people are in on a
Saturday just after the release of a new issue. On the other hand some
people there know how to use POV-Ray, otherwise there hadn't been these
interesting articles about 3.0 and 3.1.
Or maybe they just got those articles from independent authors like thy got
all the interesting radiosity (issue 6/91) and procedural textures (issue
1/93). In general they still seem to publish independent articles. Maybe
you would want try to write something about isosurfaces or other new 3.5
features...?
