How does 3.5 handle overlapping media containers with different sampling
parameters?

Does it follow the better of the two sampling parameters? Does it combine
the two somehow? What if the overlapping containers use entirely different
sampling methods? (method 1 vs 3 for instance.)

This applies not only to overlapping container objects, but also objects
containing multiple medias.
