  It will make a difference only if you encode. I don't know exactly what
difference.

  About Gator, you should read http://www.cexx.org/gator.htm

  Fortunately you can disable trickler.exe by disabling it in the system.ini
file (using msconfig) and AFAIK this doesn't affect the DivX5pro codec.
  And of course using a firewall (eg zonealarm) stops trickler from sending
information about your computer to wherever it tries to.
