In this beta, you have chosen to make the background of the render window a
checker pattern...while this is useful for many different things, I want a
way to make this turn back to black because I find it impossible to work
with when trying to work on a small section of a scene by doing a partial
render.  If it is a dark scene, thechecker pattern tends to overpower the
image to the point of making it useless.
