It is the box, indirectly.  It's where the box ends in the reflection
apparently, as you can see better by using:

box { <-1000,-1000,-1000>, <1000,1000,0>
 clipped_by {plane {-z,100}}

You'll have to scale it or move it differently, possibly like:

box { <-1000,-1000,-1000>, <1000,100,0>
