Nothing is impossible.  In fact these render quite fast.  But for an
animation you don't need such high resolution, therefore other techniques
will probably be more efficient.

There was shading in the image used for texturing.  The worst thing was
that it is a composite of different images with varying shading, therefore
it was quite impossible to remove it.  A strong blur helped but of course
you loose a lot of detail this way.
