Don't bother going higher than 100dpi. If you can do the final adjustments
in Photoshop 5+ with calibrated monitor and include the ICC profile
in file. Otherwise there is no telling what colors you get.

The most important part is to talk to the guys doing the printing. Tell
them where the image came from, what software was used for editing,
what you intend to do with the print, is color an issue etc. If they
know their job they will ask some more.

In one print shop I was asked: "What's a pixel?" Stay away from those.
Oh, and the guy was sitting in front of a Mac :)
