  Isn't the default mesh syntax of povray as 'standard' as you want?
  It's usage is quite simple. The file can be a regular povray mesh:

mesh
{ triangle { ... }
  triangle { ... }
  ...
}

and then you just #include the file.

  Povray 3.5 will have the mesh2 format (which is more compact) as well.
