1) 3.5 is a smaller task and not as 'scary' to tackle.
2) We learn a lot about these new features as we integrate them into 3.5.
3) We get more time to debate 4.0 design issues.
4) The users get a new official version sooner.
5) The official release will be more stable than MegaPov (which is basically
a series of development releases).
