Would it be possible to post a sketch of it at the binaries.images group?  I
can't visualize what you're after there.  Might help others to see too, plus
others might be able to actually help, not so sure about me.

I want to create a flat surface with a cuboid on top.  I also know exactly how
the roughness of the surface is.  However, I don't know of the best way to do
this in POV-Ray.  At the moment, I am using a union of cuboids to form the
surface but wondered if there's a better way to do it.

Can anyone help, please?
