Has anyone ever heard of Irit--the freeware, open-source solid modeler? I
haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet, but it looks like it can
do a lot of stuff--bezier surfaces, trivarate volumes, and many other things
that a math Ph.D. would know about. It's got it's own C-based description
language (many functions) that is a bit cryptic. It does have a GUI,
although it's only used for viewing models, not for creating. Anyway, it
looks to have potential for POV users, esp. if someone could improve on the
interface, although that may not be possible and still keep all the
functionality.
