I have often thought that there needs to be a book about using POV and that
also covers some of the source code, as well as some ray tracing basics. It
begs to be published by O'Reilly! If someone could demonstrate the
determination and ability, someone with a proven track record of success,
maybe the POV team would be willing to work closely with the author in order
to facilitate the release of such a book fairly close to the release of
v4.0. In any case, the help file is a great starting point, some times I
could really use a hardcopy of that.

I don't think it would be a terribly lucrative deal, but it certainly is an
opportunity waiting for an author. Visit O'Reilly's web site, they have an
email address where you can make recommendations for book ideas. They are
very willing to work with new authors with good ideas.
