This is not news, even though it is new. Intel has been planning a .18-micron
chip for a loooong time, and usually runs a year or more behind on projects.
Their i820 chipset was buggy when it was supposed to be realesed so it was held
back, but Intel still gave benchmark scores using the i820.

Athlon is faster, 900MHz already (KryoTech, otherwise 700 which is close). And
it has several advantages over the P3 for equivalent MHz. And it has a 200MHz
bus.

Intel's new chips are supposed to be veeeery expensive...

AMD also plans to release a .18 micron design in 2000 sometime, though they also
fall behind...

What I want in the next computer: Athlon, 800MHz or faster, 256MB RAM or more,
preferably RAMBUS, running Linux.
