model - vb - modeled or modelled; modeling or modelling
vt - 1: to plan or form after a pattern : shape ....

The given noun is modeler, without the alternate spelling.

This seems to suggest that as a verb either spelling is acceptable, but the
single "L" variation is expected. Not having the double "L" spelling for
the noun seems inconsistent, though.

The spell checker of Outlook Express accepts the single "L" but not the
double "L" version.
