I use a python script to check some 600 local users whether they have
webpages. And it takes several minutes to complete. It's just not the
kind of job to be done easy, I'm afraid. And you have to dig a bit until
you declared all the return codes good or bad, e.g. apache gives you a
302, temporarily moved, for aliases. Those are not at all temporary in
my case, so the checking of results is or can be quite painful
