I am having trouble with POV on Debian, too. FYI, I have Debian 2.1
("slink"), the current stable release. 2.2 ("potato") is the current
unstable release. As to libraries present, my version has libc6 (and
libc5 in another directory), glibc2, libpng.so.0, libpng.so.0.96,
libpng.so.2, libpng.so.2.1.0, libz.so.1, and libz.so.1.1.3. They are
in /usr/lib. None of the binaries for either 3.1g or Superpatch work
for me. I haven't yet been able to compile them either, although that
may well be general Linux newbieness. As to the errors the binaries
give me:
3.1g as root:
s-povray: segmentation fault
x-povray: segmentation fault
3.1g as regular user:
s-povray: error in loading shared libraries: undefined symbol: __bzero
x-povray segmentation fault
Superpatch as root:
povray: error in loading shared libraries: undefined symbol:
__register_frame_info
x-povray: error in loading shared libraries: undefined symbol:
__register_frame_info
Superatch as regular user:
povray: error in loading shared libraries: undefined symbol:
__deregister_frame_info
x-povray: error in loading shared libraries: undefined symbol:
__register_frame_info
