The last entry in that group is from April 17th.

    As for the first question, I've had a similar experience when I
wasn't able to download any messages from povray.general . After
turning paranoiac for some time I solved the problem by deleting every
group and the entry for the ftp.povray.org server and the
re-subscribing.

    Using Outlook Express here.
