Thanks for the suggestions Cliff. I found that it was the player, it is
basically harder to play AVIs than FLIs as FLIs are (or can be) specifically
built to loop quickly. That is the file structure, not the animation itself.
My animations were looping perfectly as FLIs, but when I created AVIs, there
was a stutter at the loop point. The frames were still OK, it was just the
replay rate sags a shade when it rewinds. (I am something of a perfectionist
on this sort of stuff and love creating loops where you can't see the join
and trying to make them look longer than they really are!)
