You might like to know that the command line only version
of unofficial POV-Ray for Linux 3.1a. by Mark Gordon compiles
on BeOS R4 for Intel with one minor change to the make file, it renders
too,
at least the couple of test images I tried did. No display support, 
though you could try the X version with a BeOs X server.

The change to the make file is a simple one the -lm needs removing from
the LFLAGS line in makefile so 

LFLAGS      = $(LIBPNGLIB) $(ZLIBLIB) -lm

becomes 

LFLAGS      = $(LIBPNGLIB) $(ZLIBLIB)

then make newunix....
