The 'incomplete' version of POVLAB v4.0 that you refer to is the same
package as the full version but lighter due to the omission of a more
sophisticated installation program. I downloaded this archive and installed
it into C:\POVLAB on my hard drive, which is where it *likes* to be
installed.
The freeware patch can be applied to this version of POVLAB, as well. I
tried it and it works.
