Yes, you can do this.  Go to povray.binaries.images and check out my message
titled "Media cloudscape revisited" (10/5/98).  The original image was by Mike
Andrews.  His message was "A media cloudscape ..." (9/28/98), and his code can
be found in povray.text.scene-files in the message "Media clouds." (9/29/98). I
posted two sunset images that both look pretty good.

A word of caution:  These scenes take a long time to generate.

If you want my modified version of Mike's scene, let me know (I hope he doesn't
care).
