There's always HTTPov. It has different aims compared to your project, but also
similarities in that that it prefers a plain povray with no extras and has a
central server that hand out tasks to clients that ask for them. No fancy XML
stuff though, just dumbed-down text-via-HTTP plus the HTTP file transfer
possibilities.
