It is a windows template folder that works on a pc. It was zipped and sent
via email to me and I upzipped it and tried to import it. I imagine that
something could be corrupt but when I had it resent, still no go.

I thought you had something there with the locked idea. I never lock
anything but, just in case, I verified and none of my POV-Ray folders,
subfolders or files are locked and all are on the hard drive not some other
media.

So back to the very basics....

In theory, is the following procedure correct?

Should I be able to import into templates a simple POV-Ray text file (for
the sake of argument let's say... cylinder1.pov from the scene folder in
the original 3.6 download) by using the pulldown templates menu, clicking
on import, clicking on From File..., selecting cylinder1.pov with POV-Ray
text file selected in the pulldown and clicking open?

This procedure doesn't work for me.

Granted this is not a big deal... all the templates I want to import open
directly in POV-Ray and I can access them. It's just a pain to have to go
searching for them each time.

I have been lurking here for... ahem... going on several years now. (I post
rarely as my questions are relatively mundane and I can usually find my
answers using the search feature.) I have always appreciated your quick
responses. Thank you Thorsten.
