Poser 6, any good? (Message 1 to 5 of 5)

Has anyone here tried out Poser 6 yet? Is it worth the $99 upgrade from
Poser 5 for someone who only uses it to pose things then render them
separately in POV?

From the list of features on the Curious Labs web site it doesn't look
like there is much of a difference, except maybe a few tweaks here and
there..

Peter.

It tends to crash, and mangle data, (even with the service pack, I
hear)...I tend to just load it, wrestle with it, if I manage to produce
something I want before getting sick of it I export that and don't even
save as a pz3.

:P

But from what I can tell, P6 runs a little better than P5. Maybe.

I have it but the changes are more geared toward people who use Poser to
texture and render the models. For those who use it to just pose and export
the models to another app the differences are minimal as far as I can tell.

It might be heresy to say so here, but you can actually get very good
renders in P6 with it's new ambient occlusion feature, plus the stability
is vastly improved. Worth the modest upgrade price.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Given that I only use Poser for adding a skeleton and posing/animating
prior to rendering in POVRay, it sounds like it would be best to stick
with P5 for now.

Thanks,

Peter.
