Has anyone experimented with creating colorization effects like the following?

Is there a way to acheive a similar effect directly with POV-Ray, rather than
with image processing?

I'm thinking more along the lines of defining which objects will be in color and
which would go through a "black and white filter".

Is it possible to say, do this with a color scene that's only colored when
viewed through a glass pane, a magnifying glass, etc? Or put a large such B&W
filter in front of the camera and subtract a hole in it?

Have you tried with all objects/complete scene having a grey uniform
texture (or a grey gradient texture) except one object with the natural
colouring?
