Again, using Granite_21: "NorthAmericanPinkGranite" in my Studio setup,
but 'polished' this time.

To be sure you get it too (I posted the link separately to jr's
request), the Vase mesh2 files can be downloaded here for the next 30 days:

  https://ufile.io/0wv5jpfc

I still need to test how sub-surface light transport will show itself
off in the present setting.

Using Granite_21: "DakotaRedGranite" in my Studio setup, with
'polished', and 'sslt'.

I am not very sure if sslt makes a difference here...

it's all v subjective, of course, but I think this image "best" of the three,
think the difference of the top surface alone made it worth having.

re the mesh. looks like either of the s/wares you used did some optimisation
(of vertices). luckily the "geom" file contained a very useful header, I used
that to have a few tries with the (gts) 'cleanup' utility, and got down to 55M
without any apparent/visual differences. hope to find some more time over the
weekend, see how small it can be made. (thanks)

regards, jr.

I agree. I had come to the same conclusion.

Interesting. I have no idea what those conversion programs are doing
under the hood, but if you can work out a smaller conversion output, I
would be the first to cheer. ;-)

You can also compare it with my version of conversion ).
STL->ZBrush->OBJ->PoseRay->POV

According to this site:

https://www.theglobaleducationproject.org/egypt/articles/hrdfact3.php

The grain size of the stone looks more like the example attached here.
However, all depends on the /real size/ of the objects themselves, and
most seem to be on the scale of inches/centimetres.
