How to : select colors

The main functions are obvious: Adjust the scrollbars for Red, Green and Blue to convenient values and click on one of the values below (HTML, RGB, POV...) to copy it to the clipboard.

The values of these labels will always represent the actual color in the color-window on top of the form.

Rightclicking on a label shows some formatting options which will be used when copying a value to the clipboard.

Alternatively you can type in RGB- or HTML-Values on the bottom of the form - note that false values (above 255) in RGB will not raise an error but display a false color.

"WinColors" shows the Windows-Common-Dialog - Farby will adjust to the color chosen therein; a color you defined there, will NOT be saved when Farby is terminated (You'd have to save it as a Named Color, see below).

To pick a color from the screen, click on "Pick'o'Color". The screen will then be "frozen" while you are looking for the color - the mouse cursor changes to a hand and any point on the screen you click on will adjust the program's actual color.
If you hold down the Shift key while moving the mouse, a focus window in the upper left of the screen will ease obtaining the value of the very one pixel you need.

To EXIT the Colorpicker mode just rightclick anywhere on the screen and click the popup menu.

How to... : save colors

A click on "Named Colors" will show a form, on which you can save the actual color in the main form as a named button.

       >
Click ">" to add the actual color to the list.
       >

You will be asked for a name for the color, any sign or character may be used. Different colors with the same name are allowed.

Any Named Color is saved in a text file named "myColors.txt". You do not have to care about what happens saving colors (it is done automatically whenever you terminate the program) but if you do like to edit this file manually, please take care of the formatting you find therein.

Pick'o'Color contains some hundred named colors which can be used by name in webpages (I took these from "Self-HTML7" by Stefan Muenz http://www.teamone.de/selfaktuell/) With these colors you can be sure, that they will display accurately in any common browser (which is not true for every POSSIBLE hex-value).

Rightclicking a selected color in the list allows you to copy one or more from HTMLColors to myColors, or to rename or delete colors in MyColors.

In Farby.ini the colors are saved in this format: name=#123456!

Final Note:

I have programmed this one for myself and then revised it for common use.

I'd be very cheerful for comments and suggestions by anyone using this program. There are some possibilities of further improvement, but is it worth working on them?

Please send me a note, where you took this program from etc.
