Hi, Yadgar !

I'm glad to meet here yes-=fan, that thinks the same way as me - Dean's
artworks seem to be created for raytracing.

May be you will like my idea to create a library of parameterized
macros, implementing different kinds of 'Yes-objects', like stones,
plants, corals, shells etc, everything we can find on Dean's paintings
and what our fantasy will produce, and then use it for constructing
scenes, illustrated the whole Dean's world.

Thanks to Mike's comments and scene example I'm already started to
work on it, the first seed is here:
news://news.povray.org:119/63f5a757@news.povray.org

I suppose, having as a consultant such an experienced person, like Mike,
this project will grow fast. I will be glad, if will join it or may be
share some thought about better development.

I will post news about a progress here: 'povray.object-collection'group.

I'm also familiar with POV from about 1992, I studied computer graphics
in university with it. Now I'm getting back to the origin ...

Now playing 'Magnification' :)
(I was at this live show, it was fantastic !).

Same! ...and big Yes fan. Seen them in concert. I was rocking to Roundabout in
my highschool art class. 70's - a fun time. :)

Very cool. I was doing the same. I was at Ohio State in 1980...worked a bit in
the super-computer lab testing LightScape and pre Renderman. Chuck Csuri of
Cranston Csuri was teaching and doing mind blow art there. That's how I got
hooked on 3D. They had some crazy hardware for the time.

FYI ...I still live in the Columbus region. Gray and rain today. haha

You are a lucky man, accessing such hardware and working with such
famous people at those times ...

In the 90's at Moscow Institute of Applied Mathematics we only dreamed
about Silicon graphics stations, having some outdated HP. But that was
a great time - I discovered the 3D world, and still love it, while
working with other technologies, just for living.

Time is going too fast, I am trying to implement my old ideas now, hope
I will do at least some of them...

In Moscow is cold and windy now - best weather for rendering :)

LOL...Silicon Graphics would park a van at OSU. SGI IRIS was the new thing then.
I'm retired from commercial 3D but still love to draw, model, and render.

Thanks, it was about 5 years ago ...
My dream is to animate "Tales from Topographic Oceans" in 3D, but it
will take too much time and non-programming work, so I started from
simple 2D, and still dreaming ... :)

Thanks for the source, this one was crying out for a HDR render ;-)

Thanks day,
Sence jumping back into POV I've rendered a few images with 'radiosity on' but
have not experimented with an hdri sky setup. Is there a way to set the
dynamitic range of an image in POV? Thanks for the help.
Mike
