I was working on a large-scale image and was getting frustrated with it, so I
wnet off on a tangent recreating the scene of a game we played at a recent
family gathering.  The first version is without camera blur.

Here's the version with camera blur.  I'm using the camera35mm.inc from Edouard
Poor, but I'm not sure if I believe a 35mm focal length with f6.5 would
introduce that much blur.  Anyway, it's interesting.

It was a game I was given as a gift.  I changed the name on the board and the
balls to avoid any copyright issues.  It's a 3-D tic-tac-toe with ping-pong
balls, but there are a number of variations you can play.  You bounce the balls
like beer pong, though.

My drink of choice when playing is bourbon or Scotch...

As a notorious pseudo-Islamic teetotaller, my drink of choice when 
gaming (and all other computer-related activities) is brutally strong 
coffee! Gallons of it!

That is really gorgeous, especially the lighting. If not for the suspended ball
(with no movement blur), it looks like a beautiful real-life photo. And I agree
about the focal blur; seems that a 35mm lens would be sharper even at a lower
f-stop value. (I used to use a Minolta 35mm film camera-- which I miss.)

The blur on the chair in the foreground seems correct to me. Strong as 
expected for something pretty close to the camera.
The blur for the far objects is subtil and realist.
Maybe closer to the blurring at f5.0, but acceptable.

That was something I had looked for in an earlier scene, but it seems like
introducing motion blur has to be more of a post-processing step, probably after
producing several images at different clock values.

With the lighting, one of the things I've learned is that off-camera objects and
lights can enhance the realism of a scene greatly.  If you look at the glass on
the right side of the table you can see the reflection of a window, and I have
sunlight coming through that window.  There is also a ceiling lamp in a room
behind the camera, and a table lamp to the left of the camera.

In a view pulled back further from the table, you can see the sunlight on the
floor.  In this closeup view, the light from the floor lamp overwhelms it, but
you do notice it in the reflections and if you look closely at the wall further
away from the lamps.
