Thanks for all the input!  Of course, you are right about the floor - it might look good in a Ferrari dealership but it's just not right for Gramp's Garage.  It needs to be more of a plain (and dirty) concrete.  And thank you Thomas for the tip about the bricks - real bricks are rough and somewhat porous - I'll work on that, too.
